Happy Tu Bishvat! The New Year for the Trees has arrived. As a new cycle of fruit-bearing begins, there is a celebration of the trees awakening from their winter rest.
It is a minor Jewish holiday that takes place on the 15th of the Hebrew month of Shevat, celebrated Monday, Feb. 2, 2026. ‘Tu’ represents the Hebrew letters Tet and Vav, whose numerical values (9 and 6) combine to equal 15. Tu Bishvat means “the 15th of Shevat” and is also known as Rosh HaShanah La’Ilanot (רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה לְאִילָנוֹת), meaning the New Year for Trees. Today in Israel, it is celebrated as an environmental awareness day with the planting of trees.
“When you besiege a city for many days to wage war against it to capture it, you shall not destroy its TREES by wielding an ax against them, for you may eat from them, but you shall not cut them down. Is the TREE of the field a man, to go into the siege before you?”
Deuteronomy 20:19 👑
So, as you take a look at the trees surrounding you, know that they are a symbol of God’s creation demonstrating life! They have a time when they sleep and a time to awaken. They are alive like you and me and have a new year as well…and this is the appointed time to recognize it.

This season can also be applied to our lives as well. We too, are like trees, according to the Word of God. So, if you feel like you have been in a season of feeling dry without seeing anything being produced…this is a moment we can awaken as well!

May we all arise and awaken from slumber because we are trees planted by the waters!
“And he shall be like a TREE planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:3
THIS WATER & THIS RIVER is the Holy Spirit, who helps us to be replenished, refreshed, and revived! As our roots continue to go deep into the Word of God, through the Blood of Jesus, and revealed by the Holy Spirit, may we bear fruit. May our leaves spread forth to bring healing to the nations in Jesus Name.
And he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the TREE OF LIFE, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the TREE were for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:1-2

Enjoy this special day of the New Year for the Trees!
