Shana Tovah שנה טובה! In other words, “Good Year!” This is the common greeting during this Holy Season. It’s Rosh Hashanah, also known as The Feast of Trumpets and Yom Teruah!!! It is the Head of the Jewish New Year and the birthday of the world.

This day marks the beginning of the Hebrew month Tishrei, the seventh month in the Hebrew calendar. It is the beginning of the High Holy Days, the Ten Days of Repentance, and the beginning of the Biblical Fall Feasts as appointed by God. Rosh Hashanah is celebrated for the first two days during this time of repentance also known as the “Ten Days of Awe.”
Rosh Hashanah will begin, 1 Tishrei (Hebrew calendar) 5786, which is Monday evening (at sundown), September 22, 2025. It will conclude nightfall, Wednesday September 24, 2025. It’s time to assemble and sound the shofar!

During this time, it is a recognition, celebration, coronation of God being King, the Sovereign Ruler (The Great Judge) over the universe. It is also a celebration of God being the creator and ultimate parent for humankind!
In short, it is the celebration of God, the Creator, as the Sovereign God of humanity, and Father of humanity, and the anniversary of creation.

Although, God is the One Who Judges creation as the SOVEREIGN GOD, He is also the One who is merciful and loving during His judgment of creation as our PARENT AND FATHER. His mercy came through the ultimate sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, who shed His blood in payment for our sins, saving us from the penalty of death. It is important that we accept Him into our lives to receive this mercy.
The common prayer at this time is “Avinu Malkenu” which is Hebrew for…”Our Father, Our King.”

The shofar reminds us to return to Him. It is a call to get things right, and a call to recognize that there is only one true God! As we sound the shofar…we are acknowledging all these things. The shofar is also blown 100 times in the synagogue morning services in recognition of the following:

*Malkiyut: God being Sovereign
*Zikhronot: Remembrance of God’s covenant and promises to Israel
*Shofarot: shofar blowing (remembering the ram’s horn in Joshua 6 and Genesis 22, God being revealed at Mt. Sinai in Exodus 19, the voice of the prophets, and the return of the Messiah)
As the shofar sounds, it awakens the heart and spirit. It is the spiritual alarm clock for our soul, drawing us unto the King of kings. It is God’s reminder to you, to stay in relationship with Him.

We must also know that our voice is our inner shofar. It’s time to open your mouth, use your voice, and connect with Him again. It’s time for a new start.
This season is also a time of togetherness, oneness, that comes through the supernatural ancient sound of the shofar! The oldest and most ancient instrument that is still in use in our present times. It is an exciting time to sound the shofar as people across the globe are doing the same, heralding a sound as one people to give honor to our Sovereign God, to remember all He has done! This is God’s ancient and unchanging appointment with you!
The Feast of Trumpets can be found in Leviticus 23:23-25.
“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. Do no regular work, but present a food offering to the Lord.’” (Leviticus 23:23-25)
This feast is not only a reference of an event of the past. It also signifies the celebration of the prophetic message that awakens and motivates us to be prepared as one people. He wants us to be consecrated and be ready for what is to come.

“Blow the trumpet in Zion,
Joel 2:15-16
declare a holy fast,
call a sacred assembly.
Gather the people,
consecrate the assembly;
bring together the elders,
gather the children,
those nursing at the breast.
Let the bridegroom leave his room
and the bride her chamber.”
The Feast of Trumpets points to the moment when Yeshua will return for His pure, spotless, and glorious bride, which will take place at the sound of the trumpet! We must be ready!

This was foreseen and foretold by the prophets long ago. It is the time of the awakening of hearts unto God! May those who slumber wake up!
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
During Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish custom is to eat slices of apples dipped in honey symbolizing God’s provision and the sweetness to come for the New Year.

May the Lord bless you greatly during this time as we celebrate with Israel, during the Jewish New Year!!! Happy Rosh Hashanah! May your year be sweet and prosperous!
