red and orange fire

Pentecost, which derives from the Greek word “fiftieth,” is also known as the “Feast of Weeks.” It is the season of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit! In Acts 2:1-13, we can see this took place as the crowd of Disciples and other believers gathered together in one place with expectation 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus!

“When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-4 👑

This mighty rushing wind is the heavenly gift of the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh), who filled and ignited them all with tongues of fire! Although various tongues were represented, the Holy Spirit supernaturally allowed each of these nations to speak in another language by which they all could understand. This moment broke through language barriers, introducing unity in Spirit among the different nations, demonstrating the power and acts of the Holy Spirit!

Pentecost mirrors the Mount Sinai Experience when the Law was given to the Israelites, 50 days after God delivered them from Egypt. 50 is a representation of Jubilee, which connects to the Hebrew word “Jubal/Yobel” יוֹבֵל meaning, the ram’s horn (shofar). God revealed Himself to the Israelites through a loud sound of the shofar at Mt. Sinai as He prepared to establish a covenant among them. In Acts 2, they also heard a sound, which was the mighty rushing wind of the Spirit!

There is also a difference between the Mt. Sinai Experience and the Acts 2 Experience. One deals with flesh, death, and the Law, the other deals with the Spirit, life, and the heart. In the times of Moses, the Law decreased the men by 3,000 through condemnation, leading to death because of their sins (Exodus 32:26-28). In the times of Pentecost, the Spirit of God increased the number of men by 3,000 through conviction (Acts 2:41), leading to the forgiveness of sins and life in Christ Jesus. Hallelu-YAH!

After Jesus paid the price for the sins of mankind, the Law was fulfilled through the sacrifice of His life as the Lamb of God. This caused the Law to no longer be written in stone. Instead, as a new covenant, it is now written upon our hearts through repentance. As we accept Jesus, we are given everlasting life, and access to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 2:13, it says they were mocked for being ‘filled with new wine,’ but the mockers inaccurately interpreted what they saw through their natural eyes…not by the Spirit. However, they were unknowingly right in a sense, because the Holy Spirit spiritually represents “new wine.” We are no longer bound to the old ways of the Law, we have been liberated to follow the ways of the Lord in a new way, by the refreshing help of the Holy Spirit, who is the new wine!

Peter began to give a sermon about the matter to emphasize they were not drunk. He explained that they were witnessing the power of the Holy Spirit among them as he referred back to the word of Joel.

“For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: ‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, wthat I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.’”

Acts 2:15-18 👑

The same thing is happening now! We are not drunk, we are being ignited and revived by the miraculous acts of the Holy Spirit. God is mobilizing the Body of Christ by pouring out His Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Oil, the Holy Fire, the Living Water, the Dove, the Wind, and the New Wine! It is time to grab hold of this fresh new move of God with the help of His Spirit!

It is the season of oneness where the Spirit of God gathers together all tribes of the nations. As we celebrate this season, remember that we are one in Christ Jesus! These are the last days, and He is pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh and repentant hearts. God is setting His people apart and sanctioning them unto Him for those who choose to accept Him and His Spirit. As the Holy Spirit brings the Body of Christ together, we will see the power and fire of His Spirit be ignited within the earth. Get ready for revival! It is approaching through the power of unity! To God be the Glory! 👑
