The alarm has sounded! There is a raised concern for the safety and survival for sealife in the earth’s waters. According to studies, it is confirmed that “no area of the ocean has been untouched” by human activity, and not in a good way.

The ocean is a very important part of the earth. As we know it, the globe contains more ocean than land. Due to this, one would think that it would take eternity for humankind to be able to reach every area of God’s beautiful creation of the waters of the earth. On the contrary, the oceans and the creatures within it are endangered.

Research shows us that the most isolated whale, known as the Beaked Whale, has negatively been impacted due to contaminates within the ocean. They are getting injured and even dying because of the microplastics in the water. The Beaked Whale is found in every ocean in the world and consists of 24 species of its kind. These particular whales are often out-of-reach from humans due to its tendencies to live in the deepest depths of the ocean. Sometimes making it hard to even study them. Even so, scientists have noticed strange behavior of this whale, which has caused great worry. During observation, this particular whale was found outside of its habitat in shallow waters near the coast.

Recent studies also show that blue whales, known as the earth’s largest animals, aren’t singing like they used to…they have gone silent due to their food sources disappearing. This is due to a marine heat wave that reduced the number of krill available for their consumption.

According to research, “human pollution” and “polluting energy,” within the seas could cause a massive extinction among wildlife, which can also ripple into the health of humans across the globe. This goes beyond beaked whales and blue wales, this deals with the negative impact of the growth, reproduction, ability to migrate, and survival of sea life on a whole.

Studies show, “the planet is in the midst of a sixth mass extinction event that could cause the death of half of all living species over the next three generations.”

Additionally, pharmaceutical pollution is included amongst the contaminants in the waters, such as cocaine within the coastal waters of South America. In these waters, the Brazilian sharp-nose sharks have shown to have high concentration levels of cocaine within their system. This raises a concern that the drug can fester into the food chain, within all species within the seas.

Research shows, “Pharmaceutical pollution is a global problem, with potentially more than a quarter of the world’s waterways containing levels of active ingredients – like those in antibiotics, synthetic estrogen, and recreational drugs – considered high enough to put ecosystems and possibly our own health at risk.”

Another factor that is affecting life within the ocean waters is climate change. Due to global warming the coral reefs in the seas are not surviving which is important to the ecosystem. According to Yahoo News, “Climate change is also causing ocean temperatures to rise, resulting in the bleaching of about 63% of the world’s coral reefs. During these events, coral become pale and can eventually die. The devastation impacts other living creatures that depend on the coral.” Because of climate change, various species will be impacted that can lead to extinction.

Could this be a taste of the prophetic word in Revelation 8:8-9 when the second angel blew the TRUMPET? It’s time to wake up, be watchful & pray.

“Then the second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned to blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died…” (Revelation 8:8).

Is this great mountain, the mountain of “climate change” or “destruction to seas by our own hands?” It is also said that extreme weather is having concerning effects on animals on land.

In Tecolutilla, Mexico, howler monkeys are overheated and dehydrated, falling out of trees, eventually dying within a short timeframe. According to Chandler, it is reported that as of May 2024, 138 of these animals lost their lives due to sweltering heat.

In the Middle East, climate change is taking a toll on the seas, particularly near the lowest part of the earth. The Dead Sea, a phenomenal masterpiece of God, with incomparable seawater rich in minerals, found near Israel, Jordan, and the West Bank…is rapidly receding! These therapeutic waters known from Biblical times are disturbingly drying up due to overexploitation of its natural resources paired with climate change. Reports show that the Dead Sea water levels continue to drop approximately four feet every year. This has sadly caused pillars of salt to be exposed, while also causing shoreline cavities to open up into notorious sinkholes. Although no wildlife exists within the waters of the Dead Sea, it is still important to notice how the seas of the earth are negatively impacted at this time.

The Dead Sea

Let it be our prayer and our duty as humankind to be mindful of this earth and the creation that resides within it. It is important that we do our part naturally. If we can help the environment by recycling, discarding wastes properly, and avoiding overuse, let’s do that. The earth, wildlife, the seas, and trees depend on it.

Also, please stay in prayer. We pray for ourselves, families, and people of the earth, but don’t forget, God has given us dominion over the earth. The seas, the trees, the earth, and creatures within the earth are our responsibility. Pray for these too.
