INDIA – A life-changing program of hope is empowering women who have been battered, abused, abandoned, and widowed. It is also helping girls who are orphaned and in poverty, to rise above their circumstance. They are receiving life skills, free sewing machines, and special training to make a living. This program equips these ladies to support their families and break free from poor living conditions.

Prayer House of God Church, located in Amritsar, India, pastored by Pastor Silas Ajnala, re-launched an amazing program known as the Bless India Women Stitching Project for Orphans & Poor Girls. This took place on Aug. 15, 2024, India’s Independence Day. This happens to be the 77th year of Independence for the nation, which commemorates the day India was liberated from British Rule on Aug. 15, 1947. The original launch date of this transformative stitching program took place Summer of 2017.
“This project is a great blessing for orphan girls, poor girls, and widows. This project is giving great hope to them,” shared Pastor Silas “We give them free stitching machines and training.”
The sewing machines that are freely distributed through this program have a value of $130. Participants receive six months of stitching training. The women and girls within the program come from various backgrounds, hardships, and trials of life.
Among this group, there are few who have been abused within their home. One woman who is now participating in the program was a victim of abuse, which included her and her baby continuously being spat upon by her husband. She has no means of support.

Another suffered from epilepsy which caused her husband to abandon her. She too, was left without support.

This particular woman’s husband is a drug attic. His addiction caused their household to suffer from lack.

One of the girls has a father who lost his foot, causing the family to have no source of income. Some of the other girls have fathers who are drug attics. Positively, this program has caused these women and girls to gain self-confidence. They are getting the training they need to get back up and start again.
“When they learn, they can start their own tailoring business and sell bags, clothes, and make money to meet the needs of their families and kids,” said Pastor Silas.
Some of the participants of this program who have already entered into the work field are thriving and flourishing. They are using the skills and sewing machines obtained from the program and making it their careers. This proves the success of this revolutionary stitching program.
“This sewing project has changed the lives of hundreds of orphan girls. Now they have good tailoring businesses. They stitch clothes, bags, and do sales in the market, and earn money to meet their needs, like food and education fees.”

The skills obtained from this program will help them and their families for a lifetime. As the saying goes, “give a person a fish, and they will eat for a day. Teach them how to fish and they will eat for a lifetime.” The Bless India Stitching Project is a prime example of what it means to learn a skill that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. Pastor Silas plans to expand this project into rural areas.
God is continuing to spread hope and love through ministries that are making an impact in their community and nation. May the love of Christ continue to expand across India not only through prayers but also through a helping hand.
“We are praying to God that many people come forward to partner with us to bring great hope in the lives of these beautiful girls,” said Pastor Silas. “Their contribution and support can change their lives.”
