UGANDA – A married couple from different walks of life, share similar stories before crossing paths. Both wanted to stay far from God, far from church, and did not want to receive salvation. They thought they would live in poverty if they did. God quickly changed their views by giving them an experience to remember! After they found Jesus, they found each other. Now they are building wisely and standing strong upon Christ, the Solid Rock. What they once avoided, they are now pursuing… to love God and to love people, by building together in ministry in Kampala, Uganda, located in East Africa.

Pastor Kabuye Peterson’s Story

Pastor Kabuye Peterson

Pastor Kabuye Peterson, pastor, reverend, apostle, and founding director of Glorious Miracle Missions International (GMMI), was born September 19, 1976, as a surprise to his mother in a public bathroom. He was born into a family of twelve children, six of whom are still living. He experienced humble beginnings while growing up where feeding and going to school was a problem. His parents were poor, making it difficult for them to provide the basic necessities of life to their children.

As he grew, he was good at reading the bible, to the point where his family referred to him as “reverend”. However, he didn’t want to have anything to do with salvation. He had an assumption, that a life with Jesus would cause him to be poor.

“I personally never wanted to get saved. Reason being, where I grew up in the village, I used to see men and women of God so poor,” said Pastor Kabuye Peterson. “I thought in my mind that when you serve God you are always poor and suffering, so I never wanted to get saved.”

Little did he know, God had a plan that would change his perspective, and furthermore, change his life. It all started from a simple car ride from one of his sisters to a destination that was unbeknownst to him in 1995 when he was in high school. The final destination was a born-again church in Kampala City, Uganda.

“In 1995, one of my sisters led me to a born-again church…” said Pastor Kabuye. “She didn’t even tell me where she was taking me. She just said, ‘accompany me.’ Then all of a sudden, I just found myself in a church.”

As they entered the church, an American preacher was delivering a message that would cause Kabuye Peterson to look inwardly which brought deep conviction. The message was about the foolish man who built his house on the sand and the wise man who built his house on a rock, found in Matthew 7:24-27. The preacher began to speak of the differences between the two builders. The Spirit of God started to work within the heart of Kabuye Peterson. He began to see how he fit into the message about the two builders.

“All of a sudden, the Spirit of God spoke to my heart, that I am the foolish builder who built my house on the sand,” said Pastor Kabuye Peterson.

After the message was delivered, the preacher extended an invitation to the congregation to accept Jesus into their lives and receive salvation. Kabuye Peterson could not refuse or ignore what was happening within him. This in turn, caused him to change his perspective about receiving salvation. His heart was open to make a decision that he used to fight so hard against before. He decided to accept Jesus and receive salvation.

“When he [the American preacher] called those who wanted to accept Jesus Christ to be their personal Savior and Lord, I rose up my hand and that is when I came to Christ,” exclaimed Pastor Kabuye Peterson.

The power of God moved within his heart that day. He had a change of mind, a new outlook, a brand new perspective, and a new life.

Meanwhile, the same would happen to his future spouse who he had not met yet. His soon-to-be wife was living a life with desires for the riches of the world. She was completely turned off from accepting Jesus and receiving salvation.

Pastor Justine Kabuye’s Story

Pastor Justine Kabuye

Pastor Justine Kabuye, medical doctor in pediatrics by profession, who currently ministers at GMMI, as missions director, leader for a group of women, preacher, intercessor, and singer, had her own experience. From the age of twelve, she had desires to be the richest woman in Africa, and to be married to the richest man in the world. Similar to Pastor Kabuye Peterson, she was from a family of twelve children, all living. She did not want salvation in her early life because she too associated salvation with poverty. Her parents were pastors, but were extremely poor which caused them to struggle to provide for the family.

“I did not accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I was brought up from a very poor family. Yet my dad and my mom were pastors…very poor,” said Pastor Justine Kabuye. “Getting education, food, and necessities was a tug of war, so I hated things of salvation.”

God had a plan to later change her perspective too, which would happen as she was older. As she grew, God began to give her a taste of her calling at various points in her life. At age 14, she was taken to a secondary school, where a lady with white hair in the medical profession, would take her to the hospital with her. Justine saw the passion this woman had for the patients. She began to observe the true meaning of treating people and caring for them. This lady said something to her that stayed within her heart.

“You know this is the great service God wants us to do…is save lives,” said Pastor Justine Kabuye, as she referred to the medical servant. “That is how I got interested in the medical profession. I want to see people helped.”

As time went on, she got her education. She went to a university to obtain her medical degree. It was at this moment in time, where she would not only go to school, but also go to dance in nightclubs. God knew her love for dancing which would be one of the things He would use to draw her to Him.

“God called me into salvation in 1999, I was at the university, third year of the medical course. I loved going to night clubs.”

Indeed, 1999 was the year of the beginning of change for her. One Friday, instead of going to a night club, her friend suggested to go to church. Church buses would come to pick up students at the gates of the university. She agreed to escort her friend to church. Upon arrival, she was drawn in by the music, the praise, and worship there. They agreed to go back the Sunday after. Many other students were present there. She wore revealing clothes to the service, but did not care about wearing proper attire in that moment of her life. On that day, something incredible happened, the pastor, who she called spiritual father, called her up to the pulpit.

“Young girl come up here, just raise up your hands speak out these words,’” shared Pastor Justine Kabuye as she referred to the words of her pastor. “In my head I said, ‘Check on this gentleman here, he wants me to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, I am not interested. I am just interested in your praise and worship alone.’”

Due to her love for the praise and worship, she said the prayer of acceptance to Jesus. She did this as a means to be comfortable within the church.

“When he told me to say a prayer of acceptance to Christ, I said, ‘Ok, since I want to be here to dance and praise comfortably in this man’s church, let me speak as he says.’ Now the Lord starting following me up.”

As Pastor Justine mentioned, the Lord started “following her up” after she said the prayer. Although the intention was not quite on Jesus at the moment of the acceptance, something shifted when she said the prayer. God worked with the little and turned it into much, which started with her love for singing.

After some time, her interest in nightclubs and wearing revealing clothes began to quickly fade. The man who she called spiritual father recommended her to another pastor. This particular pastor asked her a few questions that would be the doorway to her true walk with Jesus Christ.

“Do you love church?” asked the pastor.

She responded by saying, “Yeah! yeah! I love church.”

Where do you always go for your outings?” asked the pastor.

“I used to go to night clubs, but I am no longer interested. I am interested in your praise and worship here,” She answered.

“Do you want to join the praise and worship here?” He asked.

“So I joined salvation because I wanted to praise and worship.”

She was incorporated into the ministry on the praise and worship team. As time progressed and after extensive training, she was promoted to being an interpreter. The Spirit of God began to convict her with her dressing and her thoughts began to change the more she served. Her service in ministry as interpreter began to shape her and her morals causing her to dress more appropriately. She was later appointed as an evangelist, then promoted to being a pastor.

According to Pastor Justine, she became a great evangelist. Who would have thought that someone who once passionately avoided church and salvation, would later be brought to this point? This was nothing but the power of God’s Mighty Hand. Just as how someone invited her to church, she began to do the same with others.

“I used to pick anyone from anywhere to come to church. Do you love singing dancing? Come, come, come!” said Pastor Justine with excitement.

God had to change the perspective of Kabuye Peterson and Justine Kabuye, before they could be used for His Glory. God had major plans for them to be builders in His Kingdom. God did the work and did it well! He began to take them from glory to glory.

The Kabuye’s Accomplishments

After receiving salvation, Pastor Kabuye Peterson was called to ministry in 1998. This took place after he heard the Voice of the Lord in the prayer mountains in Kampala. In 1999, he became an interpreter at Mt. Lebanon Church in Mukono, Uganda. By the year 2000, he was appointed as youth pastor, leading them into outreach missions. In 2001, he was appointed as deacon, general secretary, and advisor on the church committee, while also obtaining his first certificate in artificial insemination. In 2007, he received his diploma in Animal Husbandry and Management.

Pastor Justine Kabuye later received her Bachelors in Pediatrics. She also joined Miracle Bible College, and received her diploma after one year. She has been working in the field as a medical doctor in pediatrics since 2003 and continues to do it to-date.

The Kabuye’s Story as Team Builders for the Kingdom of God

Pastor Kabuye Peterson and Pastor Justine Kabuye finally crossed paths and got married on December 8, 2005. Pastor Justine was cordially released from her church as suggested by her pastor to be joined with her husband in ministry to expand God’s Kingdom. Together they have five children: twin girls, Gold Christine Mbabazi & Grace Namugga Israel, ages 16; and three boys, Kasujja Jesse Kelly, 13; Kabuye Governor Israel, 10, and Kabuye Genesis, 1 year and 7 mos.

In 2008, they started a church called Mukono Miracle Center, the membership increased from three to twenty through prayer and fasting. Due to signs, miracles, and wonders happening among them, they grew to a number of 80. God healed the people, including cancer patients. Those who were possessed were delivered. The once barren were able to give birth. Some actually became ministers. Recently, a man in their ministry received healing from blindness.

A man receives healing within the ministry.

In 2010, they began an evangelistic ministry called Kabuye Peterson Global Ministries, a ministry focused on winning souls through conferences and crusades within most districts of Uganda. That same year they formed a community based organization called Focus on the Most Vulnerable in Communities (FMVC) catering to the less privileged within the communities. This includes orphans, widows, HIV/Aids victims, elderly, single mothers, youths, drug addicts, street children, homeless, school dropout girls, and the destitute.

By 2018, their ministry name was changed from Mukono Miracle Centre International due to an issuance provided by the parliament of Uganda. This law required all independent churches to be registered. The issuance caused them to discover their church name was already reserved. They registered under a new ministry name by which they are currently operating under, known as Glorious Miracle Missions International (GMMI).

GMMI is a faith-based registered ministry committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Fulfilling the great commission transforming communities by helping the less privileged.

Glorious Miracle Missions International

As Kingdom builders, they have accomplished much through GMMI. They have built a church, an orphanage school, orphanage home, a monthly feeding program, and a charity medical center providing free medication to the needy, with plans to build more. They are preaching the gospel, helping the poor, the widows, orphans, dropouts, and more. On top of that, they are winning souls for Jesus!

God always has a plan and always knows what it takes to get our attention. He changed Pastor Kabuye Peterson and Pastor Justine Kabuye’s life by changing their perspective. He is also using them to change the lives of others through their service in the Kingdom.

They once shunned salvation, thinking it was only reserved for the poor. Now they see the richness and wealth of salvation by wisely building their house on the Solid Rock, Jesus Christ through their service. They are helping the poor, the vulnerable, and the needy. They love what they do for people and they love doing it for God! It has become their passion!

“I love serving God. I love children, I love to see them healthy,” said Pastor Justine Kabuye.

Their greatest goal is to build a school, a hospital, and a community center with an emphasis on catering to the vulnerable and needy. They also want to build a bible school to train ministers with theological knowledge for the spiritual growth of the community.
