The biblical meaning of “1” is “unity.” The word of God mentions unity in many scriptures, like this one:

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in UNITY!” (Psalm 133:1 NKJV).

We are made in the likeness of God, Our God, the Lord who is ONE. That means we are to love one another, be at peace with one another, support one another, and build each other up, because it represents being united with your neighbor. Celebrate each other’s success, and share each other’s burdens and sorrows. Be compassionate, empathetic, sympathetic, and concerned with those around you. Although we may have many differences, we are still one body, because we all belong to One God, the Creator of the Universe.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is ONE! (Deuteronomy 6:4)

You know…although I was born in the U.S., I was raised under the guidance and parenting of my two loving Jamaican parents. Everything, I know is based on this background…the way I cook, the way I view situations, the way I was disciplined, etc. But one thing that I stick to the most is the motto of the land of my Jamaican heritage which is:

“Out of many, ONE people.” (Jamaica’s Motto)

How great it would be if this was the motto for the world! We can make it happen…if we stay connected to God and walk in our God-given purpose as ONE. You are my brother…you are my sister. Let us all rise as ONE – as the Body of Christ. We are one!
